What is E-Light Technology

E-light technology (IPL+RF) uses two energies instead of one which means more effective results with lower overall energy output. E-light is more effective than standard IPL because by emitting the optical light pulse and electric pulse at the same time it provides a greater and more focused thermal effect than a single pulse of high intense light. With less intense light energy there are low burning risks and the synergistic coupling of energies means that each gentle pulse can be delivered for a longer period of time than standard IPL/Laser yielding results, whilst leaving the surrounding skin free from potentially harmful side effects.

RF energy can heat the bulge and outer root sheath of the hair follicles in the absence of melanin. RF is not absorbed by melanin and thus is independent of skin types. Hence, the equipment reduces the risk of epidermal injury and increased dyschromia, particularly with tanned, olive-coloured, dark and black skin. Also the RF provides for better wrinkle reduction and almost instant skin tightening in the skin rejuvenation area.

This means better results, more comfort for the client and increased safety. It also allows for treatment of all skin colours and permanent hair reduction of grey, red and blonde hair.

The combined efficacy of IPL and RF energy in the same machine has also greatly increased the predictability, safety and outcomes of basic photo rejuvenation treatment.

Red and brown skin discolouration can be removed as, or more effectively than IPL only technology with fewer risk and downtime. The addition of modest levels of radio frequency (RF) also improves the resolution of fine lines and wrinkles.

Permanent hair reduction | Treatment of unwanted body and facial hair

IPL (Intense Pulse Light) releases controlled pulses of filtered light that are selectively absorbed by the pigment surrounding the hair follicles and lying below the surface of the skin. This heats up the hair and hair follicles are progressively damaged, which destroys the regrowth potential of the follicle.

E-Light uses assisted radio frequency waves along with Intense Pulsed Light to create a more efficient target absorption, while offering a superior cooling process to protect surrounding tissue from damage from heat stress.

RF technology reaches the middle and deeper layers of the skin by heating the tissue. This allows for less energy needed to be applied during the IPL treatment, leading to greater results obtained with a reduced number of sessions.

E-Light hair removal technology has a significant advantage over traditional laser as it is the only method that is effective for blond, brown and dark hair.

In addition, the E-light or a combination of IPL and RF is also used to stimulate skin rejuvenation. IPL creates a smoothing effect on the skin, while the heat generated by RF induces the formation of collagen and elastin fibers.

What you should know about the IPL treatment

  • no sun, or any ultraviolet, exposure for at least 2 weeks after the IPL treatment
  • no sun, or any ultraviolet. exposure within 4 to 6 weeks prior to the treatment
  • IPL treatment cannot be performed for at least 2 to 4 weeks after a fake tan application
  • the number of treatments will depend on the area being treated; hair type and density, skin type, age and many other factors also affect the number of sessions required
  • treatments are usually booked between 4 to 6 weeks apart
  • it can take up to two weeks for the hair to fall out completely
